A
Visual & Performing Arts School
The
Visual and Performing Arts are a vital part of the Horizon Academy NW curriculum,
as they represent skills and knowledge, which are basic for educating fully literate
citizens.
The Horizon Academy NW curriculum, aligned with the State Framework,
provides curriculum that is integrated throughout the subject areas, social science,
language arts, science, and mathematics. Instruction occurs in the classroom and/or
in special settings on a regular basis. Resource personnel provide a broad and
varied learning program. Staff and volunteers add a special dimension to the curriculum
with their skills in art and drama. Assemblies, study trips, musical programs,
and art displays offer opportunities for self-discovery, expression, self-esteem,
and expanded visual and aesthetic enrichment.
